Computer Service Technician (CST)

Computer Service Technicians are expected to have knowledge and skills, including basic computer electronics, which make the technician competent to service and install hardware and software in the computer industry. Once the CST has acquired these skills, abilities and knowledge, they will be able to enter employment in many parts of the computer industry. With minimal training in areas unique to specific products, the CST should become a profitable and efficient part of the computer industry workforce. CSTs may pass the Associate exam and, by doing so, become a C.E.T. (showing the CST specialty area).

Certified Network Computer Technician (CNCT)

Certified Network Computer Technicians are expected to obtain knowledge of computer electronics basic concepts, Internet and networking technology applicable to various areas of the computer industry. Once the CNCT has acquired these skills, abilities and knowledge, he or she will be able to enter employment in any part of the computer industry. With minimal training in areas unique to the specific products, the CNCT should become a profitable and efficient part of the computer industry workforce. CNCTs are not required to pass the Associate, or basic electronics, technician examination. Journeyman CNCTs may pass the Associate exam and, by doing so, become a C.E.T. (showing the CNCT specialty area.)

Certified Network Systems Technician (CNST)

Certified Network Systems Technician is a network professional who is expected to obtain knowledge of computer network basic concepts, which are applicable to all the various specialty areas of the computer industry. Once the CNST has acquried these skills and knowledge, the technician will be able to enter employment in any part of the computer networking industry. With minimal training in areas unique to the specific products, the CNST should become a productive member of computer industry workforce. Candidates who are interested in taking the CNST exam are not required to pass the Associate, or basic electronics, exam. However, potential CNST’s must have already acquired one of the following:
     

      1) The CST (Computer Service Technician)
      2) The CNCT (Certified Network Computer Technician)
      3) The A+ as a prerequisite to sitting for the CNST examination.

Certified Web Specialist (CWS)

Certified Web Specialists are expected to obtain knowledge of customer inabilities and lack of experience to solve problems related to the operation, maintenance and upgrading of World Wide Web home pages. Once the CWS has acquired these skills, abilities and knowledge, he or she will be able to head off potential service related occurrences that prevent smooth and efficient usage of the home page service. He or she will have customer service skills that allow working relationships with users that efficiently convey discriptions of difficulties, problems initiated by the user or needs of the person or company.

Broadband Voice over Internet Protocol (B-VoIP)

B-VoIP technicians are versed in telephone and internet communications. They install, maintain and repair/replace voice, data and video over Internet Protocol equipment. They are capable of interconnecting B-VoIP equipment to local and wide area computer network systems. They are familiar with the many acronyms used in the telecom industry. They are capable of performing cable installation, replacement/modernization and interconnection between different cable types and wireless equipment. They are knowledgeable in all the protocols being used for the telecommunications industry. They are capable of configuring and provisioning B-VoIP equipment and transmission media.
