Residential Electronics Systems Integrator
(RESI) There are two levels of expertise, plus 5 specialty optional endorsements, for those workers who install electronics cables in residences and interconnect/install electronics communications, computer, control or entertainment equipment; the Basic RESIand the Master RESI (RESIma).
The Basic RESI is proficient in pre-wiring for home theater and telecommunications equipment interconnection. He/she will pre-wire and install the wiring for antenna, satellite, cable TV, wireless broadband equipment, audio and video entertainment equipment and computer/networking equipment. He/She will have skills required for installing and maintaining low voltage residential wiring. He/She will locate, mount and install certain equipments, but is not expected to have the technical expertise to configure and program the higher technology hardware or to manage most software. Most RESI technicians will want to obtain at least one of the 5 specialty endorsements.
The Master RESI is proficient in all five specialty areas of
residential electronics equipment integration -
may be recognized
as a technician with the core RESI skills and knowledge as
well as proficiency in planning and designing electronics and
communications equipment systems and layout for new and existing
construction. The Master RESI is capable of designing the entire system
and network for audio, video, data and control of security and
environment. He/She also is capable of initializing, troubleshooting and
debugging the system and planning installation or modifications that
residence owners may require. The Master RESI has extensive knowledge of
the operation and technology and is proficient in each of the basic 5
subcategories of residential electronics. The Master RESI is a lifetime certification.
